Dr. Steven M. Austin

Dr. Steven M. Austin is a 1990 honor graduate of Appalachian State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He received his dental and orthodontic degrees from the University of North Carolina’s School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill in 1994 and 1999, respectively. Dr. Austin is board certified from the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Austin has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 1999. He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the NC Association of Orthodontists, the Gaston Dental Society, and the Occlusal Concepts Study Club.

Dr. Austin was the Lincolnton Rotary Club Auction chair for the 2010 Rotary Auction of Education where they raised over $100,000 for student loans. The Rotary Auction for Education has provided millions of dollars to educate the students of Lincoln County.

Dr. Austin, along with Sherry Reinhardt of the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse, began the North Carolina Chapter of the PANDA project which stands for Preventing Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness. They were able to receive grant money from the Rotary Foundation in order to fund the project.

He was President of the Gaston Dental Society from 2013-2014. He was named Rotarian of the Year for the Rotary Club of Lincolnton for 2010-2011. He was President of the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse from 2012-2013.

Dr. Austin resides in Denver, NC with his wife, Shannon. In his spare time, Dr. Austin enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He and Shannon also enjoy traveling to dance competitions to support their daughter, Halle-Grace. Dr. Austin, Shannon, and Halle-Grace enjoy being on the water whenever possible.
